We all knew it would come and at the Shanghai Auto Show, BMW introduced the M4 CS, a powerful variant between the M4 competition package and the M4 GTS slot.
While BMW did not go into specific production figures, it is assumed that the production of the M4 CS will be covered, as the Germans will produce the special edition only in the middle of the next year
The production of the GTS has already been completed CS is now the strongest M4 in the range of the company.
The modifications begin with the engine. The BMW Division has tweaked the well-known 3.0-liter twin turbocharger inline six engine to deliver 454 hp and 600 Nm (600 Nm) of torque. These figures represent a 29hp and 37 lb-ft jump over the standard M4, and are 10 hp and 37 lb-ft more than the M4 competition package.
BMW has also taken inspiration from the GTS by using a series of weight-saving measures for the M4 CS. These include the roof, trunklid spoiler, diffuser and front manifold all made of lightweight carbon fiber reinforced plastic. In addition to the door loops new light door panels were installed.
The M4 and 10 kg (22 pounds) above the M4 competition package
The weight savings and extra grunt push the M4 CS from 0 to the standard dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission -62 mph (100 km / h) in just 3.9 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than the M4 Competition Package. The maximum speed is now a limited limit (278 km / h). BMW says it has lapped the ring in 7 minutes and 38 seconds, making it slower than the GTS (7: 27.88) and just as fast as the Porsche 991 Carrera S.
Other mechanical changes The CS includes optional 6-piston front and 4-piston gold brake calipers with carbon ceramic brakes, stiffer springs and dampers, larger overshoes and 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels as standard.
In Germany, the BMW M4 CS will be priced at € 116.900.
Customers can choose between exterior colors like Lime Rock Gray metallic, Alpine White, San Marino Blue Metallic, Sapphire Black Metallic and Frozen Dark Blue II Or € 40,200 more than the regular M4 Coupe, which starts at € 76,700. US and Canadian pricing are not yet known, but expect the CS to cost over $ 100,000 when it lands in North America in early 2018.
